1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, or using the Praan mobile application ("App") or visiting our website at praan.fit ("Website"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use our services.
These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you ("User," "you," or "your") and Praan ("Company," "we," "us," or "our"). We may update these Terms from time to time, and your continued use of the App or Website after any changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
2. Description of Service
Praan is a food health scoring application designed for Indian consumers. Our service provides:
- Health scores (0–100) for packaged food products based on nutritional data, ingredient quality, additives, and processing levels (NOVA classification).
- Barcode scanning to instantly retrieve and evaluate product information.
- Detailed breakdowns of ingredients, additives, and their associated risk levels.
- Product comparisons and healthier alternative suggestions.
- Educational content about food safety, nutrition, and labeling standards in India.
Scores are strictly informational and do not constitute medical, nutritional, or dietary advice. Praan is a decision-support tool — not a substitute for professional healthcare guidance.
3. User Accounts
3.1 Account Creation
You may access Praan in two ways:
- Google OAuth Sign-In: You can create an account by signing in with your Google account. We receive your name, email address, and profile picture from Google. We do not receive or store your Google password.
- Guest Mode: You may use the App without creating an account. In guest mode, your device is identified by a unique device ID to preserve your scan history and preferences locally.
3.2 Account Security
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and any activity that occurs under it. You agree to notify us immediately at hello@praan.fit if you suspect any unauthorized access to your account.
3.3 Accuracy of Information
You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information when creating an account, and to keep such information up to date.
4. Acceptable Use
You agree to use Praan solely for lawful, personal, and non-commercial purposes. Specifically, you agree not to:
- Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to derive the source code of the App or any part of the scoring algorithm.
- Scrape, crawl, or use automated tools to extract data from the App or Website, or abuse the API in any manner.
- Submit false, misleading, or fabricated product data, ingredients, or nutritional information.
- Use the App to harass, defame, or harm other users or third parties.
- Attempt to interfere with, disrupt, or overload the servers, networks, or infrastructure supporting the App.
- Reproduce, distribute, license, sell, or commercially exploit any content, data, or materials obtained from the App without our prior written consent.
- Use the App in any manner that violates applicable laws or regulations, including but not limited to FSSAI regulations and the Information Technology Act, 2000.
5. Health Score Disclaimer
Praan health scores are for informational purposes only. They are NOT medical advice, nutritional counselling, or a substitute for professional dietary guidance.
Please read this section carefully, as it contains important limitations on our service:
- Informational Purpose Only: Health scores generated by Praan are intended to help you make more informed choices about packaged food products. They are not a diagnosis, treatment recommendation, or endorsement of any product.
- Not Medical or Nutritional Advice: Praan does not provide medical or nutritional advice. Always consult qualified healthcare professionals, registered dietitians, or certified nutritionists before making dietary decisions, especially if you have allergies, intolerances, chronic conditions, or specific nutritional requirements.
- Data Accuracy: Our scores are based on publicly available data, including information from Open Food Facts, manufacturer labels, and user contributions. While we strive for accuracy, this data may not always be 100% accurate, complete, or up to date. Product formulations may change without notice, and labeling errors can occur.
- Individual Variation: Health scores represent general evaluations and do not account for your individual health conditions, allergies, medications, or specific dietary needs. A product with a high score may still be unsuitable for you personally.
- No Liability for Decisions: We are not liable for any decisions you make based on the health scores, product information, or any other content provided through the App or Website. You assume full responsibility for your dietary choices.
6. Intellectual Property
6.1 Praan's Intellectual Property
The Praan App, Website, scoring algorithm, brand identity, visual design, user interface, graphics, logos, icons, and all original content are the intellectual property of Praan and are protected by applicable copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws of India.
You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of our services or included software, nor may you reverse engineer or attempt to extract the source code of the software, unless laws prohibit these restrictions or you have our written permission.
6.2 Third-Party Data
Product data displayed in the App may be sourced from Open Food Facts, an open, collaborative database of food products licensed under the Open Database License (ODbL). Additional product data may come from user contributions and other publicly available sources. Praan does not claim ownership of third-party data but may enhance, process, and present it through our proprietary scoring system.
7. User Content
7.1 Submissions
You may submit content to Praan, including but not limited to product scans, barcode submissions, product photos, ingredient corrections, and nutritional data updates ("User Content").
7.2 License Grant
By submitting User Content, you grant Praan a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable license to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, and distribute such content for the purpose of operating, improving, and expanding the Praan product database and services. This license survives termination of your account.
7.3 Representations
You represent and warrant that any User Content you submit is accurate to the best of your knowledge, does not infringe on the intellectual property rights of any third party, and does not contain any unlawful, defamatory, or harmful material.
8. Limitation of Liability
8.1 "As Is" Provision
The Praan App and Website are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
8.2 No Indirect Damages
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Praan shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses, resulting from:
- Your use of or inability to use the App or Website.
- Any errors, inaccuracies, or omissions in the health scores, product data, or content.
- Unauthorized access to or alteration of your data or transmissions.
- Any dietary or health decisions made based on information provided by the App.
- Any third-party conduct or content on or through the App.
8.3 Maximum Liability
In no event shall Praan's total aggregate liability to you for all claims arising out of or related to the use of the App or Website exceed the total amount paid by you to Praan in the twelve (12) months preceding the event giving rise to the claim. As the App is provided free of charge, this amount is zero (₹0).
9. Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account, or restrict your access to the App, at any time and without prior notice, if we reasonably believe that:
- You have violated these Terms of Service.
- You have submitted false or misleading product data.
- Your use of the App poses a security risk or may cause harm to other users, third parties, or our infrastructure.
- Your account has been inactive for an extended period and termination is necessary for operational purposes.
You may delete your account at any time through the App settings. Upon termination, your right to use the App will immediately cease, though provisions that by their nature should survive termination (including intellectual property, limitation of liability, and governing law) will remain in effect.
10. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify or replace these Terms at any time at our sole discretion. If we make material changes, we will provide notice through the App, by email (if you have an account), or by posting a prominent notice on our Website. The "Effective Date" at the top of this page will be updated accordingly.
Your continued use of the App or Website after any changes to these Terms constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree with the updated Terms, you must stop using the App and Website and delete your account.
11. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising out of or in connection with these Terms or your use of the App shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in India.
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid by a court of competent jurisdiction, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary so that the remaining provisions of these Terms will continue in full force and effect.
